Interpersonal Skills

Interpersonal skills are all about how we interact with others. We cannot lead a totally fulfilling life if we do not interact with others, and being able to develop good interpersonal skills is essential if we are to thrive in this world and work with others.

We all know those people who just seem naturally to get on with others and develop deep, meaningful and lasting friendships, associations and relationships with others at the drop of a hat. Although these people seem to possess natural people-orientated skills, these skills can also be learnt by those who do not necessarily see themselves as having good interpersonal skills.

Learning and understanding interpersonal skills techniques will help to improve the way in which you interact with others, the relationships you develop and hence the quality of your life. No one person is an island. Even if you are by nature a loner there will still be situations in which you need to speak to, and develop links with others. Trying to avoid interacting with others because it seems too much of an effort will cost you in the long term as you will miss out on the wealth of knowledge others have.

The upward spiral

The flip side is that if you are able to master these skills well, you will be putting yourself on an upward spiral. You will be able to tap in to that wealth of knowledge, you will feel more whole as an individual, the quality of your own life will increase and having others around you with whom you have developed a deep affinity will help you overcome some of the challenges you face in your own life. Life is to be lived to the fullest, and one of the best ways you can do this is to learn to develop meaningful relationships and associations with those around you.

This interpersonal skills workshop centres on those elements that make for successful interaction with people, the skills that we need in order to be able to develop meaningful relationships, the different types of relationships and their roles.

Those who will benefit most from this workshop are those who have issues with the way in which they interact with others, those who fear others’ judgements of themselves and those who just want to improve the way they deal with others.
